After his graduation from the University of Michigan Law School, Chet practiced law for five years, specializing in commercial lending, creditors’ rights, and employee benefits law. He then joined Textron Inc. as its employee benefits counsel, and over a fifteen year period rose through positions of increased responsibility, including corporate-wide Director of Benefits Compliance and Welfare Plans and then Vice President Human Resources and Administration at a Textron business unit. Chet simultaneously served as chairman of the Title IV Task Force of the ERISA Industry Committee, a Washington DC trade association representing the interests of Fortune 100 firms, and spoke on ERIC’s behalf in testimony to various Congressional subcommittees on six occasions.
